Happy New Year!

I wish a Happy New Year to everyone who comes across this blog!
I hope that 2009 has been filled with joy, hope....and music for you as it has been for be, and I'm sure that 2010 will be even better!

Talkin' about music, I'm sorry for having been absent for so long, without posting anything. I'll do my best to avoid that in the future (New Year resolution N°1!), but I can't promise to post on a regular basis, as my internet connection is really bad.

Music again, you all know that Rapidshare deletes the files that have not been downloaded for a long time, and that the period is going from 90 days without downloads to only 60 days tonight...
To avoid having too many files deleted, I just made a list of some boots that have not been downloaded for a while....if you want one of them, download them fastly (and at the same time, you will "save" the file, which can be considered as your good action of the day!)

I know I will never see these 4 guys on stage again - this show was great -
1st time they played in front of an audience in 23 years... The club was packed!...
recorded approx 10ft away from the right stack (Geoff Downes side) - mics mounted on my eye glasses...
Steve's acoustic portion was very quiet (crowd noise) - but sound is very good...

Here is a review of the show fromsomeone at Yesworld .com:

Posted by: Jim (xxxxxxxx@xxxxxxxxx.xx.xxx)

I had the privilege of attending the show in Rochester on Tues. Aug 29th. The energy displayed by the
band was absolutely electric. John Wetton still has the range to hit all notes, Carl Palmer was a complete show unto himself.
Geoffrey Downes was surrounded by keyboards, and Steve Howe was truly inspired. The entire 1st album was re-created.

Steve was easily more inspired than I have seen him recently (over 50 shows and counting).
If you have a chance to see this band re-create their magic,
don't miss out. The 1500 fans in our Rochester venue were rocking!

comments:
this is a very nice recording- good mikes/ deck/ recording position.
John says this is the 9th concert of the debut tour of Asia, and other than having trouble hitting that high note one time in Sole Survivor, he sounded good in this show, as did the rest of the band.
the 1st track fades in, just a few seconds missing, all the other songs in here are complete. the source recording had a few interruptions between songs, I have spliced it to make it a seamless recording.
I'm not sure which song (s) Howe plays in track 4, but I bet this band would have been called "U.K." if not for Allan Holdsworth, Wetton, Eddie Jobson and Bill Bruford already grabbing that name in 1978.
or maybe they just wanted to be as big as Asia (the continent).
nice try, didn't quite pan out, but for regurgitated 70's rockers playing in the 80's, Asia was considered one of the "supergroups" of the decade, and this tour had its (heat of the) moments. I thought it was far better than any that followed later from this group.
disc 2 can start with track 9 or 12, or 13 if you prefer.
Do not sell this recording.
Share freely, losslessly and gaplessly.

Review:
Led Zeppelin doesn’t give concerts, they perform physical transformations. They kneaded the full-house crowd in Memorial Auditorium into silly putty Sunday night with two hours and 50 minutes of massive sensory massage. The sheer enormity of the sound did it (though the full moon may have helped), an enormity that resonates into your paleolithic pith, the cry of the dinosaur summoning out that primitive quickening in the face of monstrosity. Whatever isn’t touched by the earthquake rumble of John Paul Jones’ bass, John Bonham’s gunshot cracks on the drums or Robert Plant’s echoey heart-of-darkness voice is left quivering by the swooping electronic slices of guitarist Jimmy Page, especially his solo on the theremin. Their relatively simple brooding themes are blown larger than life, like skyscraping office buildings, and they lay on thick embellishments and broad dramatic resolutions that mean more en masse than as individual items.

The four of them approached it all with unexpected good humor. John and Bonham lay back blithely amongst the folding backdrop of mirrors that run the length of the stage. Page in black with a rhinestone-studded rose on his open jacket, prancing around like a cocky midlands soccer player in a pub, and Plant in tight jeans and a short jacket with rhinestones and puffed sleeves strutting back his curly blond mane. The band took no breaks, despite the heat. Applause followed a few Page guitar solos but the youngish crowd didn’t really erupt until the start of Stairway to Heaven and again when the spinning mirrored ball went on as it closed. The heavy drumbeat of Moby Dick brought a rush on the stage and most of the hall stayed on its feet for that last hour, including a long Bonham drum solo with special synthesizer effects. An 8-minute ovation brought them back for an encore after their boogieing final number. “Thank you Buffalo,” Plant said when they finished. “Take care until we see you again.”

Foreigner (1981-12-18/19/20?) Rockpop In Concert (Dortmund, Germany) [FM]

Foreigner Live in Dortmund 1981-12-(18-20) FM Complete Show (Rockpop In Concert) A flat-out rocking party!

Please note that NONE of these tracks are on the band's official release! The Dortmund track was recorded two years later! I have two source tapes for this show. One says it took place on the 18th, the other states it was on the overnight between the 19th and the 20th. Take your pick.

Sounding all revved-up and ready to go, the band are terrific in this short 51 minute set. It's a complete knock-out for all.

Intro
Long Long Way From Home
Dirty White Boy
Luanne
Cold As Ice
Waiting For A Girl Like You
Feels Like The First Time
Star Rider
Urgent
Jukebox Hero
Hot Blooded

Technical notes: There's a 24 second patch from an alternate take of this show during the guitar solo in "Hot Blooded". This was due to a tape flip on the main take.

(FM)

-> date and venue according to this database-info: http://db.etree.org/lookup_show.php?shows_key=90621

-> this show has been bootlegged more than once, but this is the first ANA(M) I´ve seen, so I was happy enough to purchase it, even though the recording procedure and the tape used (in addition to the 22 years that this very tape was lying around and in use) might not have been that "audiophile" (I asked the taper/seller how he taped this show) - it is what it is, no dolby used, just the raw transfer on quite decent equipment and a bit equalizing. I hope you can enjoy that.

Source: FM-broadcast ("Hey, Let´s Go To The Arena!" @ Südfunk 3 (= SF3)) > unknown portable stereo system > analog master (Scotch BX-60) (-> bought off EBAY for 1€ (2009-04-05))

Transfer: Kenwood KX-W6060 > Audacity > HDD > WAV > Audacity (normalizing and tracking) > FLAC (via TLH (Level 7 and tested)) > TTD (2009-04-11)
